    • What's the worst payment experience you've ever had?

Let's swap war stories. Every merchant has one — the payment that went sideways and stuck with you.

      • Funds frozen right when you needed them?
      • A chargeback weeks after you'd shipped?
      • A payout that "processed" but never arrived?
      • A platform that changed the rules — or vanished — with your money on it?

Share yours below. Partly it's therapy, partly it's genuinely useful: the worst experiences are the clearest map of what a payment tool should never do to you. We're reading.

    • Reconciliation: making every payment line up

Getting paid is half the job. The other half is knowing, cleanly, what came in and matching it to the right order — especially at volume, and especially with crypto where you don't want to squint at block explorers all day.

It's a real part of what we're building:

      • A clear record of every payment received — amount, when, which order.
      • Matching that's easy to eyeball, so "did order #1043 actually get paid?" takes a glance, not a hunt.
      • Because it's self-custody, the record is anchored to what actually happened on-chain — you can trust it and verify it.

Good reconciliation is quiet when it works and painful when it's missing. We'd rather you never think about it. What does your current month-end look like? What would make it painless?

    • Payment link, checkout page, or API: which way to accept fits you?

There's no single "right" way to accept crypto — it depends on how you sell. The common options:

      • Payment link. You generate a link (or QR), send it to a customer, they pay. Zero setup, great for invoices, chat sales, one-offs.
      • Hosted checkout page. A ready-made payment page you point customers to. Good for a store or repeatable orders, no coding.
      • API integration. Wire payments straight into your own website or app. The most control, needs a bit of dev work.

Most merchants start with a link or checkout page and add the API later if they need it. You don't have to decide everything now — just know the shapes so you can pick fast.

Which one sounds like your setup? Tell us — it helps us make the right one smooth first.

    • Make sure you're on the real MotePay — not a lookalike

Fake sites are one of crypto's oldest tricks: a page that looks exactly like the real thing, on a domain that's off by one letter — "m0tepay", an extra word, a different ending. Type your password in, and it's gone.

How to never fall for it:

      • Bookmark the official site and always open it from the bookmark — never from a search ad, a DM, or a link in an email.
      • Check the address bar letter by letter before you log in. Lookalikes rely on you glancing, not reading.
      • Be extra wary of "urgent" links and "you must verify now" messages. Real security never works by rushing you.
      • No login page should ever ask for your seed phrase or private key. If one does, it's fake — leave.

One careful look at the URL beats any amount of cleanup afterward. Make the bookmark habit now.

    • If MotePay could fix one thing for your business, what would it be?

We're building this for you, so let's aim it right. If MotePay could solve exactly ONE thing for how you get paid, what would you pick?

      • Stop funds getting frozen or held?
      • Kill chargebacks and payment disputes?
      • Cut the fees eating your margin?
      • Accept customers or regions you can't serve today?
      • Make crypto payments finally simple to set up?

Tell us your #1 below. The problems this community names most are the ones we fight hardest to solve. No wrong answers — just your real pain.

    • You're never locked in — not even with us

A quiet promise most payment platforms can't make: you can leave whenever you want, with everything.

Because MotePay is self-custody and built on open standards:

      • Your funds are already yours — there's nothing to "withdraw" or get approved to take with you.
      • Your keys are standard. The wallet you hold works with other compatible tools, not just ours.
      • Leaving doesn't mean losing. You're never trapped on MotePay the way custodial platforms can trap you.

It sounds strange for us to tell you how to leave. But it's the whole point: we'd rather earn your business every day than lock you in. A tool you can walk away from is a tool you can actually trust.

That's the kind of relationship we're building. Questions welcome below.

    • Two wallets, not one: hot for receiving, cold for savings

Once real money starts flowing in, a simple habit protects most of it: don't keep everything in the wallet you use every day.

      Split it:

      • Hot wallet — the one connected and used for daily receiving and payouts. Keep just a working balance here.
      • Cold storage — a hardware wallet or an offline wallet for the bulk of your funds. It rarely connects to anything, so it's rarely exposed.

Sweep the excess from hot to cold on a schedule that fits you. If your everyday device is ever compromised, the loss is capped at your working balance, not your whole treasury.

Banks keep the vault separate from the cash register for a reason. Same idea — your money, your control.

    • How would you pitch MotePay to a fellow merchant in one line?

Here's a fun (and genuinely useful) one. Imagine a merchant friend asks, "What's this MotePay thing you keep mentioning?"

In ONE line, how would you explain it? What's the hook that would make them lean in?

      • "It's crypto payments where the platform can't freeze your money."
      • "Get paid in crypto without handing your funds to anyone."
      • …your version?

We write our own taglines all day, but the way a real merchant explains it to another merchant is worth ten of ours. Drop your one-liner below.

    • Why we don't bet on a single chain

Ask two merchants which chain matters and you'll often get two different answers — because their customers, fees, and regions differ. So we're not building MotePay around one "winner" chain.

      Supporting multiple chains means:

      • Meet customers where they already are. They pay from the wallet and chain they already use, instead of you turning business away.
      • Room to optimize. Different chains trade off speed and fees; options let you (and your customers) pick what fits.
      • Less lock-in. You're not stranded if one chain has a bad day.

We'd rather fit the real world than force everyone onto our favorite. Which chains are non-negotiable for your business? Your answers directly shape what we prioritize at launch.

    • How a crypto payment reaches you, start to finish

Curious what actually happens when a customer pays you in crypto? The path is simpler than it sounds:

      1. You show a payment request. A checkout page with an amount and an address (or a QR code).
      2. Your customer sends. From their wallet to that address.
      3. The network confirms. The transaction gets recorded on-chain — usually seconds to a few minutes, depending on the chain.
      4. It's yours. The funds land in your self-custody wallet. No platform holding it, no "pending release."

That's the whole loop. The beauty of self-custody is step 4: the money is already yours the moment it confirms — nobody stands between you and it.

We're building MotePay so steps 1–3 feel effortless, and step 4 is just true by default. Questions about any step? Ask below.
